Factory Vacuum gauge

Was there a special vacuum line used from the factory for trucks with the vac gauge? It looks to me like a pre-formed hard line was used, just like the oil pressure line. When I pulled the gauge panel, there was no line attached to it. Does anyone have a pic, or know how the gauge was originally hooked up? Also, where on the engine was it connected to? I may be posting a WTB ad following the info I receive from this question....or I might go to Lowes and see if I can find a barb to thread onto the back of the gauge, and just run a rubber vacuum line. Thanks for any info.

Re: Factory Vacuum gauge

I am sure you are right about GM using a hard tubing. I just wanted quick and simple ,so I used 1/8" plastic tubing to the carb.

Re: Factory Vacuum gauge

Scott it was a hard line from the factory on the big trucks and the setup was similar in construction to the modulator valve line for the trans- a rubber line used to connect at a vac source on the engine. You could get some of the copper tubing sold for oil pressure line and a couple of fittings with ferrals and be good to go I would think or you could use regular vac. line and accomplish the same thing.
