There should be some mention of it on the SPID inside the glovebox door.

Look for a factory exhaust bracket for dual exhaust.I`m assuming there`s no SPID.

The SPID inside the glove box door will show an engine option. The big block was not standard, so it will be listed there as a 400.

Probably would have a high hump trans cover unless it is a 3 speed manual. Should have a heat shield on the bottom of the pass floor. A couple of places to start...

Re: way to tell if a factory big block truck

Heat shield is a good place to start for sure- the bolts that hold it in place are 5/16 phillips head bolts, if things are changed usually this gets over looked. The dual exhaust hangers are another good thing to look for and the correct motor mounts should be a clam shell type if a true 72 bb truck. The fan shroud was prob. not changed out either so it will be visably different from a small block truck.

Re: way to tell if a factory big block truck

The left fender will have mounting holes for the power steering reservoir if the truck came with power steering.
