I pulled the carpet up in my 84 blazer to find that my floor boards are rusted out pretty bad. Just curious if any of youhave done this your selves. THe guy I work for replaced the floor in his 70 he used to ahve and is willing to help me do it , but Im debating haveing a body shop do it. Any ideas on what my next action sould be, or what this might cost? This crap has gotten me depressed, I really didnt think they would be rusted yet! damn it....

If the guy you know has done it...check out his work first. If it looks good have him do it.

BUt otherwise I would not tackle that job myself..

Hey Dave, I'm Marvin I met you at a Pleasures meeting in OKC w/ Jason?, we went and ate at Chili's? good times. anyways, he did his back when he was in high school (like 10 years ago) an dhes sold the truck since then. He welded up all the body too and the body work looks good from all the pics I've seen, the truck was stunning, but Im just curious to see how much it would cost to get a body shop to do it. I've herd its really not that bad, just difficult welding such thin metal. Thanks for the welcome! and the help.

If your friend does pretty good welds, I would let him help you, and save some money for other mods

My brother replace the floors in a '69 camaro, and it didn't look all that hard. Of coarse I am not a welder, so I don't know.

Body shops charge too much.................

If your buddy has done this before...you may be able to learn from this.........not an option at most body shops................

The welding you guys are talking about is not really welding at all....let me explain --- it would actually be "tacking" thin sheet metal should be tacked about every 3 inches or so and then gone back to fill in all of the spaces that weren't tacked... This may sound like welding and it is a process of welding but it is much easier on the metal and won't warp it as badly. This can be done easiest with a MIG welder (good quality---Lincoln or Miller) just use hot enough tacks for the gauge you are using 20 to 18 ga.

I have seen do it yourselfers use roofing flashing and a rivet gun!!!
