New truck

My uncle's 82 Chevy. He said he doesn't know much about it besides there's a rebuilt motor with dyno sheets showing 420 horsepower, and the transmission (automatic) is shot. It has a lot of surface rust, as it's been sitting in Alabama for the last 4 years unable to move. I think I'm going to get it right before the 4th of July.

I don't really have much for plans. Probably just restore it and make it look pretty then burn some rubber

But I think it has the 87-88 front end, doesn't it?

Re: New truck

That looks like the correct front end for an '82 (81 - 87 had the same front end sheet metal; grilles were changed every couple years or so).

1988 was the first year for the GMT400 pickup, so it is an entirely different series.

Re: New truck

That's the stock 82 front end. Nice color combo too. Go get it and get busy.

Re: New truck

i wonder about the front end as the 81-82 had single headlights with the solid part under the headlight and the signals in the bumper..mine is a scottsdale .. didnt all the trucks come this way?

Re: New truck

81's and 82's came both ways. 4 were standard, but they could still be ordered with 2.

I would have said it the opposite way.

2 lights were standard (on Custom Deluxe and Scottsdale) but you could opt up to 4 lights using RPO V22 (Grille - Chrome). 4 lights were standard on Silverado.

IIRC -

Re: New truck

Looks like a nice truck! There is always confusion about the 2 light, and 4 light options in the 81-87 trucks. Glad there are always people here that have the exact knowledge to help us all out!

Wow! Glad to be able to help!

In general (in case it's not obvious) the "cheaper" package is usually base and then you opt up to the fancier (extra cost) equipment.
