Starting Problems, Hot Shot relay

Ok on my 68 lemans....blah blah I know its not a 67-72 but you guys are smart...It has issues wanting to start. No matter what battery I try it wont start. If I add another running truck to it (ie jumper cables) It will start right up. I was wondering if anyone has used a hot shot relay from painless. Will this help it out?

The battery is in the trunk with 2-0 welding wire going to the starter via a moroso kill switch. I also have the painless relay on there for the alternater. I was having problems getting it started then I changed the cable going to the starter and now it works better, but I cant start the car with out another cars help. The starter is a CVR model and was also bought new to help with the starting problems.

FYI I also use the same starter on my suburban. If it sits for a few days then it sometimes doesnt have enough juice to start. Could be a bad battery since its not holding a charge. I was also thinking about tossing one of these on there so I dont have to worry about it starting.

My bet is the 00 is not large enough for the amperage the starter is pulling. If it is a high compression motor you may be surprized how many amps it pulls. Get a meter and check the voltage at the starter while cranking. If it drops below ten volts your gonna have problems. Also do you have the ground run up to the block with 00 also. If not that could be the problem. Do the voltage drop test and do what ever you have to to get the voltage up while cranking

I dont think the wire is too small. Some would say its over kill. Maybe I got the size wrong.

I had not thought about the ground part. Im still using the stock ground strap. I guess I should upgrade the one from the frame to the block and then from the battery to the frame.

Has anyone had any experince with the hot shot relays????
