questions about hubcaps and carbs

Hey guys, I posted a message in the introductions section.
Just picked this up....
http://www.billyblaze.net/chevy/chevy.html
anyway i was wondering if anyone knew where I might find two more hubcaps online to match the ones I already have.

Also I was wondering as my quadrajet is acting up, which carb you guys use as a replacement for a stock 454.

any help is always appreciated.

Cool old truck. I am not sure at the hubcaps, but on the carb you can run a 650 Edelbock and it should bolt right up. You will have to change the fuel line and maybe the cables. Hope that helps..

Re: questions about hubcaps and carbs

cool! found the hubcaps both places.
I would like to maybe get the woodgrain redone to keep it original, the woodgrain is looking pretty ragged but not bad for a 36yo.
Is this color tan? I would love to see this truck completely retored one day....probably pipe dreaming though....lol

it looks like that yellow that Chevy called Ochre. if the option sheet is in the glove compartment, the paint color should be there. that list is pretty cool and will also reference the woodgrain sides. that tailgate band that is woodgrain is super rare. they make that woodgrain in aftermarket.

My thoughts exactly.

I would like to know what is the ratio of the rear axle of this truck.

It should be listed on the build sticker in the glove box.

Re: questions about hubcaps and carbs

I have the original owners manual and even the 1973 brochure telling about every truck in 73, but unfortunately no build sticker in the glove box or anywhere else that I can find.

try the front inner fenderwell under the hood. That's where it was on my 73. Nice truck, though.

it looks to me from the original brochure that these hubcaps were an upgraded stainless steel option to the standard hubcaps offered for the 73, the brochure shows a picture of them which is the same shape and color but it is an artist rendering instead of an actual photo. but since I am an artist too I am almost 100% sure these are the optional SS ones offered by Chevy.
I should scan the brochure and make a PDF file to share, it's a pretty interesting piece and neat to have as a companion for the owners manual...just for fun.

Re: questions about hubcaps and carbs

Hey bro, are you still looking for hubcaps. I think I may have the same ones. I lost one last week while driving and I went ahead and took them all off this week. I am gonna put the dog dish style ones on later this week. I do not know what kind of prices you found but make an offer plus shipping and they are yours. Here are some pics I just took. They need to be polished up. Two of them are missing one fake lug nut cover each but you may be able to take one off from the another and somehow glue it on or something. Have a look and let me know if these are the same one.

Joe231 told me you were looking. He had posted a comment on my 65 chevy build thread.

This is missing one lug nut cover.

This is the good one.

This one is also missing a lug nut cover.

I had polished one awhile back and it looked pretty good. I was gonna touch them up with some paint on the bowtie and the black around the center.

Re: questions about hubcaps and carbs

I love those hubcaps. We had those on our '69 GMC (purchased new).

I noticed a similarity the other day. These are the wheels that came on our '63 Catalina:

I bet that's why dad liked those hubcaps so much!

Regarding the missing "lug cover" - those look like just a typical solid wheel lug acorn nut. Could you drill out the broken stud and install a matching lug nut over a new stud in that location?

Just a thought -

Re: questions about hubcaps and carbs

The hub caps look like a craigslist or ebay item. If they are being repopped, they will be expensive.

Nice looking truck there, if the inside of the bed is any indication, it looks like a great truck to start with.

those are the upgraded wheels until 74 or so. ralleys did not appear until 75 or 76. if you didn't want dog bowls you could upgrade to these.

Rally's were definitely available in '75. Our '75 1/2 ton swb (purchased new) had them. (It had the small, round centercaps rather than the newer cab with the indents near the lug nuts; base of the cap was black rather than silver).

FWIW -
