Drop shock selection
Looking to replace the Doetsch Nitro Slammer I have with new ones, but can't see the part number for mine on the shocks. Need to know what size to get. 2wd C10 lowered 3" up front with springs.

Re: Drop shock selection
Summit SUM-G7727 is your part number. That is a reboxed Doetsch Tech drop shock in a cheaper box. Price is 30 each.

Re: Drop shock selection
Sure enough, seems like the Doetsch sticker is worth an extra 10 bucks per shock...
Even has new hardware and a frame stud! Last edited by texanidiot25; 06-15-2009 at 02:21 AM. |

Re: Drop shock selection
D'oh! These are too long from the front. They are shaped like the rear shocks too, which is what I think their for.
I'll mount one and see what the travel is like, but seems like they would be near bottoming out all the time Last edited by texanidiot25; 06-15-2009 at 12:59 PM. |

Re: Drop shock selection
These won't work if you have 3" of drop with springs. At ride height the shock would be fully collapsed...
Edit: But if you change the part number by 1, to 7728, you get the shorter Summit brand shock for the same price. Can't find this shock using their search setup by clicking what application from the left bar. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G7728/ Last edited by texanidiot25; 06-15-2009 at 01:19 PM. |

Re: Drop shock selection
Are you sure they aren't misboxed ? I have that part number on the front of my truck with 3 inch springs. I just ordered them a month ago and they are not fully compressed on my truck.
I looked at the application at Summit, and it lists 0-3 inches lowered front as the application for the Sum G7727.

At ride height, from eyelet to eyelet what's the distance? My front drop springs are used and I have a feeling their saggy. And my passenger side sits a tad lower it seems too. It was one number off, and the exchange is going to be for the same price, so I only loose a few bucks shipping them back. |
