Original Delco battery information
I need to know what Delco battery originally came with my truck. It is a 1972 K2500 4x4 custom camper GMC with a 350 4 barrel. I have been running an R89S-Is this correct? My battery died and I need to order a new one ASAP for GM Nationals next weekend at Carlisle. I see the R89W has more CCA. Was this for the big blocks?

My original wiring harness is side terminal for the battery-not top. This is straight from the factory this way.

Re: Original Delco battery information
Good point...I was referencing from the 1970 parts manual as that is the year truck that I have.

Re: Original Delco battery information
71 was first year of side terminals i trucks. I have the R89w in my bb truck and considering most don't know the difference go with the larger cold cranking amp battery. FYI I use a optima to move crack etc, after a bad experience with a faulty new voltage regulator and a acid spill from the originalstyle battery- luckily nothing was hurt so I drained the battery and place it in the truck to show only- since battery cables must be disconnected anyway.
