24x24 Travertine tile job pics as promised
This job was a real fun one. It really required alot of patience, as we were there for 2 months if I remember correctly. It was 6 or 7 bedrooms each with its own shower, 10 ft ceilings throughout. The showers were tiled to the ceilings, all the walls included. The whole house was tiled, a total of 10,000+
square feet. We also tiled the patio with 1" pavers. I included the pics of the beautiful woodwork that was all imported from Colombia IIRC. The sugar cane installed was a beautiful touch IMO. The drywall was coated with a plaster mix which we had to be careful not to stain as it was not sealed. The stucco was a Spanish mission? finish. I dont remember the actual name for it, but it was nice. This home was really nice and I am proud to have been a part of the tile crew that was there. There was a total of 3 tile setters and 3 helpers. This custom home builder is really a great builder. He has attention to detail for any and everything. As a sub for him, he let us know not to try any funny stuff, or just do good enough. He wanted perfection, and we had to replace 2 crews that didnt believe him. In the end it all came together great. Enjoy the pics

Re: 24x24 Travertine tile job pics as promised
Thanks Frizzle,
I personally prefer lighter colored travertine, but I still like the way it turned out. I had a sore back every day. Each tile weighs around 25 lbs it seems like. When we did the floors it seemed like my lower back was on fire Back brace did nothing to help. In the showers, the walls we floated with mud, and each one took about 2-3 days of floating, then about 3-4 days to set the tile. We had one guy just bullnosing the tiles every day, for a good 2 weeks because we had to do a 6 inch tile base This job was fun !

Very beautiful work. I can't wait to get back into building. 3 years behind a desk has me ready to put the belt back on.

Thanks. R/C cars would have been fun, but we would of got our butts kicked out of there. This place is a strict place to work at. The General Contractor didnt want any trouble. I dont blame him. He would probly get banned from working in the community but it would of been fun

Re: 24x24 Travertine tile job pics as promised
I didnt have a camera when I went back the last time. We ended up putting down 1" thick paving stones similar to tiles in that they glue down. They had a nice finish to them. It was ALOT of covered patio to do that way but it all got done.

The hallway shot makes me think of Hotel California. Beautiful work though, the owners sure have something to be proud of. And a hell of an empty wallet.
