I,m cleaning engine bay,what next?

Bought myself pressure washer and used spray nine degreaser,bio dregrader stuff.works well by the way.What should I use to wash that off with so I can paint,just some soap and water and rinse with water,thanks

easy off stove cleaner is redicilously good..
but it will strip paint and everything it touches...

ok.. so "normal" engine detailing i use "purlpe power" driveway cleaner, and cheap hard bristle brushes, the ones you use for pots and pans with the long handle..
it's time consuming but worth it i usually start "soaking" the night/afternoon before, then morning of i spray down again wait about thrity minutes and start scrubbing, rinse repeat
the driveway cleaner is safe for your wiring bundles and all rubber fittings,
but if you have it all apart.. easy off will strip everyting under the sun right off no problem..
brillo pads work great on the aluminum (carb brake lines etc)
wire brush as needed

and before painting rinse all residue with carb cleaner and/or mineral spirits.

I am a believer in dis-assembly of as much as is practical before cleaning and painting. Anywhere where there are surfaces that are bolted together will hold onto any kind of grease/oil/anti-freeze....and even cleanser residue, plus you have a potential place for the paint to split later. That being said, it is pretty extreme to strip everything and paint the parts while separated, but that is the best way.
Beyond that, warm water and a powdered cleanser called Spic N Span is great for the initial hand washing...prefeably after some pressure washing for the worst crud. After the cleanser, I would go with a work-out on the air-compressor.....break out the blow-gun and hit everything thoroughly. Follow that with some time just sitting to dry-out. Before you are going to spray it, I would go over everything by hand with a proper wax & grease remover just like a commercial paint shop would use. You should be able to get it from an autobody supplier locally.
You have to be meticulous with cleaning/drying or you will have fish-eyes in your paint.

After cleaning with a good degreaser and removing the leftover oily film from the cleanere, use a good scotch pad to rough up your areas that you want to paint. It will make th epaint stick better and is not as harsh as sandpaper. It can be purchased any place automotive paint supplies are sold.

thanks for all the advice,and I did remove everything from the firewall,wasn,t going too but one piece led to another
