Squealing sound
Hello all,
Im usually on the 60-66 board but i also have a 76' GMC so i figured i would ask to try and get some ideas with one of the problems that i am having. My truck has a 350 with a TH350 tranny and for the past month or so there is a squeal coming from my truck. I thought it was the belts and very well could still be the belts, but it only happens from 50 MPH and up. Whenever i let off the gas and it goes below 50 MPH it doesnt do it. I tightened up the belts and it still does it every time. It is driving me nuts so do you guys have any ideas on what it might be. It even sounds like squealing belts and changes pitch as the truck is going below 50 MPH. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Re: Squealing sound
Does it happen at a certain rpm?

Re: Squealing sound
hub bearings....
if it's directly related to speed and not rpm or gearing i would assume that it was in the axle areas itself...

Re: Squealing sound
I was talking to my dad and he said that it very well could be a water pump bearing going out. IT does sound like a belt squeal though which is why it is throwing me off. It does seem to be speed related which would be at a certain RPM. Like i said it happens at around 50 MPH and then goes away and is even non existant at speeds under 50. Thanks for your ideas guys i appreciate it.
