okay, so i got the ok to spend all day tomorrow on my truck, yay me!!! so i gots me some questions.
1) Power windows - aftermarket kit, or what? 2) Power Locks - Keyless entry kit, or what? 3) Speedo - 275/50s, th400, 2.73 gears (from the rpo codes), needle dances like a gay irishman... new cable, or tranny speedo gear and cable? i always drive 5 - 10 mph over...bb powah 4) Fuel Gauge - damn thing dances worse than my speedo!!! the guy put in a new tank right before i got it, so i hope he replaced the sending unit... but i dont think he did, cause of the dancing. is that the problem/fix? i wont answer anything unless somebody needs more info to answer me. im cleared from the boss to have all day father's day to work on the damn thing, so thats what im gonna do. |

1] after market
2] key less entry only if wiring is good to start with 3]unhook the spedo and get a GPS 4]sounds like the sending unit or maybe it could be the wiring connector on the sending unit

Have you lubed the speedo cable? If not, do that. If it doesn't improve, replace the cable. I replaced a cable in one of mine and it only ran $20.

i sprayed some wd 40 in it behind the gauge, and tightened it up at the tranny. better, but not perfect, but it only cost an hour of my time. thanks.

Try white lithium grease, or the speedo shop uses wheel bearing grease. If you use the wheel bearing grease, you just want a light coating all the way down the cable, except for a few inches at the speedo head end.

I thought you used graphite on speedo cables?

I used to until I had a a new cable made up at the speedo shop. I had him show me what he used and how he applied it. He just uses a light film (emphasis on light film)of wheel bearing grease on the cable and it works like a charm.
