Radiator question..
Guys,
I'm looking at replacing my radiator on my 67 chevy stepside.... The motor came out of a 74 G10 van. it's a 350. manual transmission. I want to eventually convert the tranny to auto. My question is, when looking for radiators, does it matter if i go with automatic or standard transmission? Brothers has a bunch listed. I also want to replace the radiator support. Are the supports generally bolt in or require welding? Thanks, Chris |

IIRC automatic radiators have built in tranny coolers and that manual transmissions do not. if your looking to go automatic in the future, I'm sure that you could get the automatic one and just plug the tranny cooler lines from the radiator until you need them..
my gut tells me that core supports are mostly bolt-on, but i have never actually taken one apart before, just seem it all apart...

core support is a bolt in operation but you will have to remove hood, fenders, inner fenders and all hardware on support such as windshield washer tank grille battery tray wiring harnes etc not necesarily a weekend deal because puting it back together should be done with care refinishing and cleaning each piece.

If you don't get a radiator for an automatic, aftermarket, bolt on transmission coolers are available virtually everywhere.
They just mount in front of the radiator.
