Body mounts, help

I have a new body mount kit and I read on here that a 7/16 bolt is used for the core support mount. Is this correct?
(I would think a bigger bolt would go there. The hole is bigger.)

Then does the tallest bushing go under the firewall? The short fat one for the core support? I know all the back bushings are the same, just questioning the front two positions.

Thanks,

Re: Body mounts, help

When I did mine I put in the biggest bolts I could, bigger IS better
I also used nylon lock nuts to keep them from comming loose.
Do NOT over tighten your mounts, you want them nice and snugg but don't pinch or squeeze the mounts too much. They need to flex.

Sorry I don't remember wich mount went were??

Wow, off topic, but what color is that on your K5? I like it!

Re: Body mounts, help

The 2 front are 7/16, the 2 front floorpan are 9/16 and the rest are 3/8. I couldn't find 9/16 when I did mine but 5/8 worked fine. I went with poly mounts and the stock length bolts only worked in a few places. I had to get longer bolts for all but 4 spots.

Re: Body mounts, help

Thanks for all the info!!!

I had the front two mounts reversed.

Thanks, the color is 2009 Dodge charger r/t model. Took it out of a Chrysler color chart. It's a metalic so looks great in the sun...

Re: Body mounts, help

Stealing the thread...I'm about to do the same, trying to decide what is better, rubber or the poly. My main concern is I've read the poly squeak after a while, true? Thanks, hopefully I can order them and get it done this Saturday.

The stock rubber style is going to ride a bit softer but will flex more when wheeling.

Might be a day late to the party but here's a body mount assembly page.
