Some people must have a lot of cash to spend. I must be a cheap bastard.

Re: Any one use this?
It looks like it would take up alot of the already limited leg room.

Re: Any one use this?
big mike71 that is true, even for the drivers right knee but not too bad. I had a 6'4" passenger once and he said to lose the AC. I usually have fairly short helpers and have seen no problems with it for them.

Re: Any one use this?
you aren't cheap tranz am, you just never lived in south alabama where the temp is high 90's day or night with a humidity of around %70. I ain't whining or *****ing, i drive this thing everyday and love.....just might love it more with some a/c. that's a good looking 69 you got by the way.

Re: Any one use this?
definatly not built for my 6'5 frame. i'd perfer the in dash vents, they look better and more leg room.

Re: Any one use this?
thanks Bamabaxter
I hear that I can totally understand your need for cool air. wouldnt it just be cheaper to find a working system in a junk yard though? Quote:

Re: Any one use this?
If you are willing to spend that much, look into some of the other 'in dash' units from vinatage air and some of the others.
The one you posted has a cheesey dealer add on vibe, and if your truck is as nice as your avatar implies, this one you posted would just add K-Mart rash to it IMO. |

Re: Any one use this?
I honestly just don't want to go through the trouble of putting one of the in dash units in....don't you lose the glove box storage? I could get one for a decent price since I am employed by NAPA, I just figured it would be easier to install one of the underdash deals. I new good A/C system is about a grand either way you go. Get a good junkyard unit and something is going to be bad.....rather it be new and come with some kind of a warranty.

Re: Any one use this?
Just the leg-room issue should be a deal breaker if you intend to have anyone over about 5'10" riding with you,or you are 5'11" + and don't want your right knee banging the thing all the time like it does in my Wal-Mart Cheese-mobile.

Re: Any one use this?
hahaha....thanks. I had wondered about that. I am still just looking around for the time being trying to get opinions. I may go with a factory style.

Re: Any one use this?
I have vintage air and a aftermarket smaller glovebox compartment. It still holds all my paperwork and misc. junk.

Re: Any one use this?
Wasnt there somebody that found a factory unit from a Dodge neon or something that is self contained under the dash and worked.
It was something from a small -midsize car , separate from the heater unit.

Re: Any one use this?
You know, because of the small size of our truck cabs, something out of a small car would work. Please - somebody speak up on this topic.

Re: Any one use this?
haha, Your right about that one.
Dont they sell ac recharge systems @ harbor freight? I think I remember seeing them there. If i really wanted AC in my truck I would fabricate my own system from a newer vehicle already converted to the new refrigerant type.
