What does this switch do?

Hey wondering if anyone knows what this switch is for or what it does, I have no clue, never seen it before. It's mounted to the gas pedal bracket and from what I can see it appears as though when you step on the gas pedal (accelerate) it hits this switch. I haven't looked at any diagrams yet but thought I would run this by everyone for some help. Here are the pics and this is a from a 1971 1 Ton Dually just in case that may have something to do with it. Thanks

Re: What does this switch do?

I think you can slide it on the bracket can't you, I'm not to sure I'll have to take a closer look. I never worked with a TH400 before so it's pretty knew to me.
