short spark plugs

#5 plug boot resting on header, looking at all options to work this one out and was wondering if anyone has opinions on short spark plugs and wich one to use, 71 c10, 350, eps man, 1406 carb, hedmans, HEI, pulling my hair out all sugestions are appreciated

ACCEL Shorty Plug For Headers. you can get then at any parts store, about $30. Im using a set on my truck. they seem to work really well.

Had similar issue and the accel shorties solved the problem

If you have vortec heads they won't work.

they work on mine just fine man.

Is there a reason they wont work? will they mess up a head or what?

The only ones I could find to fit mine were 15 bucks apiece, all the ones at local auto parts set to deep

Been reading a bit on the accel shorty plugs.....lots of people say they foul out ALOT!!!....
has anyone used these?

Champion Spark Plug numbers: RV91MC and RV92YC

They are the same length, just better from what I read!!!.....

I am posting this at the risk of getting flamed, like I did last time.

My only problems with Champion and ACCEL, were the insulators cracking during installation.


"Did you get angled or straight plugs? That is the main deciding factor.

I use Autolite 3924's based on Edelbrock recommendations. (I've always had good luck with autolite plugs, so I stick with them) If you have the angled plug heads, you'll probably have to use a shorty plug.

Here is the recommendations from edelbrock. I believe the plug seats are flat, so you should use the washers (if they are tapered seats, you don't use the washer...)

I have been running the Accel shorty plugs in my 383 stroker motor and my son's 350 motor for years. It may be true that some people have had fouling problems with their plugs, I have NOT had that happen YET. (Knock on Wood---I guess). I have put many miles on my engine and it does have a larger cam than most stock engines. So, a fouling issue would be noticeable if it happened.

I was wrong when I said I use them with no problem.

Did some digging on the net. plugs that work in older heads pre 1996 wont work in vortec. vortec heads need a plug with a longer reach, not shorter. A plug with a short reach will burn up the threads the plugs screw into. causing head failure.

At least this is what I have read.
