I got a set from Brother's (a hit, or miss company IMHO) for about $18/side, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I'm happy with the springs.

It's Brothers that gives me fits at times. To be honest, I don't order there unless I have to. They just happened to have what I needed, when I needed it when I was replacing the whole front clip.

Something else.....cuz I'm not sure what you mean by "lost their springyness"....my buddy had been bugging me forever to WD-40 the 6 or 8 little hinge points on each side. I did that and holy cow.....my hood opens and closes like freaking butter. Just a thought!

Re: springs for hood hinges

your most likely right about the wd-40. However, i went ahead and bought new hinges and would like to go with a new set of springs to go with them.

Re: springs for hood hinges

If your hood won't stay up---you need new springs. If it stays up, they are OK.
I don't think I have ever replaced springs, unless there was a big underhood fire and the tension was gone. They just don't wear out.
I don't even stock springs, although I have lots of hinges.

Re: springs for hood hinges

I bought new springs and hinges from my local Chevy dealer, after Early Classic Enterprises told me that you could still get 'em there. You can always give them a try.

Re: springs for hood hinges

I found the springs to be a PAIN to install! I ended up bending one hinge trying to install it. The guy that painted the truck for me installed the other hinge/spring and aligned everything.

the older I get, the more I realize that having someone else do something that is a pain in the a** is sometimes worth the cash, if you have it... which I seldom do...
