steering column for 700r4 in my 72 super 20
I was hoping someone out there knows if a steering column out of an 84 truck will mount up in my 72 super 20 to go with the 700r4 trans that I'm installing. Or maybe the stock tilt column could be modified to work? Thanks, Ray

Re: steering column for 700r4 in my 72 super 20
I just used my stock column.
P = Park R = Reverse N = Neutral D = Overdrive L2 = Drive L1 = 2nd And 1st just hangs out there at the end. Never bothers me though, because I rarely put it into those lower gears manually. They do make the correct display lens, and the linkage to make it line up right. I think the LMC part number for the lens is 32-7212, and it costs about $10. I don't think the steering column from an 84 will bolt right into your truck. It could probably be made to work with a little effort. Last edited by Indyuke; 06-30-2009 at 02:37 AM. |

Thanks Indyuke! Sounds like the stock column will work with no problem.

All you need to do is change the lens. Here's one I was going to use if I went to a 700r. This is for our tilt wheels.
