Frame Rivets
so, after two years, i've finally got around to prepping the frame i got from LockDoc (removing manual trans crossmember, and installing C-Notches), and all these rivets are driving me absolutely batty...
basically i've been cutting a X in the head, and then using a hammer and chisel to break the pieces off... There has to be an easier way to accomplish this task... any suggestions?

That is close to what I do. I drill the middle of the rivet head out, then a few taps with hammer/chisel to remove whats left of head, then hammer/punch to remove rivet.

try putting one more line in your X, then use the air chisel. I had to do that a couple of times.

I drill about a 1/4" hole and whack it with a chisel and they pop off. also they punch out easy when you relieve them.

The best way I have found is to get a GOOD resin fiber disc and angle grinder to grind the heads completely off, somewhere around 24-36 grit. It only takes about 15-20 seconds to grind the entire head off with a good disc. I started off with x-cuts and an air chisel, but this was MUCH easier to do.
Then I used an air hammer with a punch to drive the rivets out. This works probably 90% of the time, but occasionally you'll need a monster hammer and punch to get some stubborn ones out instead of the air hammer.
