r4 compressor?
I will be changing the new 68 over to a serpentine belt set up off a 94 v6. Has anyone used a r4 style compressor on their truck with factory air? what all had to be done? thanks for your help. Jim

Re: r4 compressor?
By "factory air" I'm guessing you're keeping the POA setup the '68 truck originally came with, right? If so, running an R4 will work okay. You'll have to change the clutch electrical connector, and you can wire in the high-side cutout on the rear of the compressor if you want, but you can probably safely skip it. You'll have to get a custom compressor hose made. Some auto parts stores make them.
To get maximum performance out of a POA running R134a you should "tune" the POA, since R134a runs at different pressures than R12 did. Most all of them have an adjustment screw where you can change the back suction pressure somewhat.
