1970 Suburban 2wd to 1973-87 spindles swap
I have a stock 1970 1/2t 2wd Suburban w/ front 6 lug drum brakes and I have a pair of 73-87 1/2t 2wd Chevy C10 drop disc spindles laying around and would like to be ble to swap it. What will be needed to do the swap? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Or would it be cheaper to get a new pair of drop spindles for a 1970 Suburban?

Re: 1970 Suburban 2wd to 1973-87 spindles swap
You can buy a set of 'conversion' spindles which utilize all of the original ball joints and tie rods. They use the 1.25'' wide rotors and traditional single puck calipers. You can get the rotors 6x5.5'' bolt pattern.
If you use the spindles you have you will need to change all your ball joints to 73+ and use a special tie rod adaptor. I dont know the details on this part as I've never used them. Then source out the same 1.25'' rotors and calipers as above. I think the dollar factor figures on what parts of your suspension are in good shape or new. If it needs a rebuild you could use the spindles you have; if not the conversion spindles with rotors and calipers mite be the way to go.
