Speedo Problems

My recent project a '72 Burb , after installing a new speedo cable the speedometer still does not work. What checks can I do?

Make sure the speedometer cable is really connected....you can screw it on there but it might not be seated. If I recall correctly you should be able to feel it go in place before you screw it in, try rotating it while pushing in a bit when you install it. Again if I recall correctly, you can look at the middle part of the cable end and see that the point has a flat side (maybe 2?) or some such...that has to match up to the hookup.
