pulley questions

I posted a few days ago about my alt. bracket not lining up with pulleys if I used the stock alt. bracket. I was told that my having the long water pump was the problem. If I change to the short water pump will I be able to use the same pulleys that I have or will I have to change the pulleys too? One or two or all pulleys? With truck taken down now, this would be the time to do it if I am going to change anything, but I don't want to creat more problems for myself when I am just trying to use the stock alt. mount and can go another direction. Also, if the pulleys won't line up can they be spaced? Thanks in advance for the help.

When I got my truck 15 years ago it was a mutt. Body, chassis, engine, tranny, everything - including engine pulleys - were from different trucks.

I was constantly messing around with broken alternator mount bolts and alternator mount arms.

I finally got a complete set off of a known factory configuration. That solved ALL my problems.

I would look in the parts section for a complete set, swap them all, and never look back. I would NOT mess with spacing them out with spacers or washers.
