Re: When you bought your truck, How did.....
I have my own ideas of what I like to do. But whenever I see another truck that just looks "right" to me, I save the pic, then print it and put it in a 3-ring binder. If there was something particular about it (trim, color, custom sheet metal work, adding newer xxx, anything like that) I will write on the back of the page. I draw many ideas from what others have done, and morph them into my own vision. If you have ever looked at the build thread for my 68 that I just traded for the 85, then you would know what I mean.

Bob that is a great idea about printing out the pics, and info on the trucks. I'll have to do that. You and I have a lot of the same plans and ideas for our trucks. I'll have to keep my eye on your build and make notes!

Re: When you bought your truck, How did.....
i always had a thing for convertible trucks, so that and the desire to stand out and be unique are what made me build mine. i always wanted to build a truck so one day i came home, pulled in the garage and cut the roof off. it was about 30 minutes from the time i got home. i told myself do it now or im not going to do it

Re: When you bought your truck, How did.....
My dad had an 84 SWB that was a dealer-optioned white and blue... It is still what I think of when I think about about anything 73-87 related. I recently got it back (from being parted out) and hope to get it going again soon.
Here is a pic of my dad, me (in the glasses) and my brother changing the oil. ![]() This is my other 84... Dad can't believe I'd take the white & blue 84 junker over it... ![]() |

Re: When you bought your truck, How did.....
That is awesome man! I was raised around Ford's so I'm kind of the black sheep to my dad. He never was much of a "car" guy. He always took excellent care of them, and maintained them, but that's about it. He primarily drove them as a means of transportation. My uncle on the other hand. HUGE car guy! Had several square bodies when I was growing up, and builds street rods. I guess I got my car bug from him, and the maintenance part from my Dad.
I totally understand why you would want the blue/white one. I'm not a Ford guy, but I still would like to have the 81 F100 my dad had when I was growing up. Just for all the memories that go along with it. Do you have any pics of the blue and white one? |
