I ALWAYS JUST CHANGE OUT THE HARNESS, BUT I'M SURE THERES A WAY TO REWIRE THE PLUG. IT'S NOT JUST A MATTER OF UNPLUGGING A IDIOT LITE PANEL & PLUGGING IN A GAUGE PANEL, IF THATS YOUR QUESTION.

i just did this on my 71. All i wanted were the dash lights, blinkers, hi beam ind., and fuel gauge. I will be putting in sunpro gauges. Got a wiring diagram and moved the wires in the plug. No problems
