quick question... body mounts?
Hey guys,
Can you change one rear body mount (rubber parts) without taking out the seat and everything? Does the nut stay in place where I could just jack up the truck a little bit, pull the bolt, slide in the new rubber mount, and put the same bolt back in? Or will the nut slide out or over where I'll never get the bolt back in? Thanks in advance... |

Re: quick question... body mounts?
The bolt at the rear of the cab uses a "captured" nut. The bolt in front has a nut on the bottom, requiring you to pull back the carpet/floormat to access the head. Just zip out the front and rear bolts on the side that you are working on and just loosen up the other side. Jack it up, replace the mounts and bolts, leave the bolts loose, repeat for the other side, tighten everything back up, and you're done.

If it's like my 68 then no you don't need access...
Not all trucks had these angled supports like 67-68.. it's the far right bolt, not the gold one. The fronts have to come up through the cab as stated previously..

Re: quick question... body mounts?
Some of the front mount bolts are welded to the floor from the factory so you may have to grind the welds out to remove the bolts.
