Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

Yo! FRANKENTRUCK got cleaned up and took us to Brush, CO and back for a 4th of July party. The hosts' house had been hit by a tornado the eve before, so when we arrived, there were limbs and trees down everywhere! Had a great time and drove into rain on the way back.
Completed the fabrication of the speaker panels for the truck,...found some foam insulation for them in my stock of extra stuff, and decided to sacrifice some never-worn black scrubs to cover the panels. Pics as I build them and start installation.
Neighbors over this AM, and my brother and sis in law out this PM. We enjoyed my deck, pond, and music collection all afternoon.
Glad I power washed the truck and the Camaro this morning 'cause I didn't get much else done!
Drank MORE than my share of beer all weekend!
Todd.

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

I started tearing into my 79 SB for a complete frame off resto. I've been gathering parts and $$ for this for the last couple of years. Got the front clip and bed off yesterday, and will be pulling the motor, tranny and tcase on Tuesday. The cab and last bit of wiring harness, springs and axles, brake and fuel lines come off Wednesday, and Thursday the frame, core support, axle housings, and cab goes to the powdercoaters (the cab is just getting media blasted). It's going to be a busy and expensive week. I'm on vacation next week and hope to get the rolling chassis completely reassembled then.

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

Was off for 9 days and had rain on 8 of them. Got my parts shed mostly sided and levelled, now for floor and shelves. Did a bunch of tractor stuff (levelling, grading, etc) and mowed the lawn twice. Moved the oldest back into her bedroom (after 1 1/2 years!).
Big win, made a 14 hole bottle rocket launcher / roman candle holder out of some scrap tubing. Took me about 1 1/2 hours but was worht it (I've been meaning to make onefor years...).

This week, I'm gonna do nothin'

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

I spent the weekend at my dad's house in Myrtle Beach. We began installing the front and rear Porterbuilt kits on his 85. I spent some time with family on Saturday at a bbq. Had a great time.

Did the brakes on my Riviera also worked on the air ride a bit. Still debating on keeping the 76 or selling it. There are not enough hours in the day or enough $ in the bank.

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

Picked up a dually rear seat and installed it in the truck. Looks SOOOOOO much better, and feels like a new seat. Also snagged a drivers side arm rest off the same dually and put it on. Member Driveway Dreams came over to get some parts and we ended up installing a tall air dam on my truck, he took the short one that was one it. Now I'm trying to diagnose a slight surge at cruise.

[QUOTE=dammitmitchell;3396747]had a very large bbq and watched in horror as a very large woman climbed onto our trampoline... with 5 or so kids on it...
very large bbq indeed...

Did you get the kids off the roof / out of the trees ,safely??

last year I had a 'large' woman that turned my favorite ,plastic, adirondack chair into silverware sized pieces.

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

i got the clutch changed in my truck, but it went down hill from there, a junk battery and possibly a starter later we were trying to pull start the truck for a couple hours on a back road with a tractor...got pissed because it wouldnt stay running at an idle, only revved up, pulled off the arcing coil wire, and the terminal broke off in the coil, broke the housing on the coil trying to get the terminal out. so today a coil and wire later...we think we have a fuel issue! no to mention my sh!tbox car ate the alternator after sitting for a week...ya just cant win some times....

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

I also did complete a whole 'C' notch kit on the back of my 81 and i swear I'll make up a proper thread. I took plenty of pics and loaded them into my photobucket. i just have to add some explanantions & figure out how to arrange them in order and not by the MB size like they automatically do

Re: what did you get done 7/4/09 firecracker edition

I took my 83 for a ride around the property. first time it's been driven, or heck even ran in at least 3 years. disconnected the fuel lines at the fuel pump, hung a temporary tank (not for the faint of heart) hot battery and she busted right off. dang 305 purred like a kitten and the 700R4 shifted without fail. SWWEEEETTT!!! lol
