Re: Need to buy a Stabilizer Arm?

Ok so I got another view, and they said its missing something thats goes from the back to the front and connects to the A-arms and its goes on both sides of the truck. They said that I would have to go to a dealership or to a salvage yard. Anybody know what they talking about?

Re: Need to buy a Stabilizer Arm?

It's not a torsion bar suspension. Unless they are talking about a sway bar, I am lost.

You need to post some pics of what you have.

Re: Need to buy a Stabilizer Arm?

Come to find out it wasn't a Stabilizer Arm it was a sway bar,Ok we went to a salvage yard and we called it a sway bar and the guy was like you mean a torsion bar. But all of this might not even matter my uncle knows a old lady with a 68 C10 for 300.00 dollars and its in way nice condition.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sway_bar

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torsion_bar_suspension

Stabalizer Arm is more accurate than a torsion bar, but still not exactly right. See links above.

However.... a sway bar is also not mandatory for the front suspension. My 82 with 32" tires did not have one and handled fine.

There is still something else wrong your truck. A shimmy at higher MPH sounds like a tire balance issue. But would still have the whole front end checked... tie rods, ball joints, control arm bushings, etc.. Adding anything that was not originally there is not a fix only a bandaid.
