6 lug front disks
I currently have a ECE front disk conversion kit that is 5 lugs. what would it take to convert this to 6 lug. Is it as simple as swapping out the rotors?

Re: 6 lug front disks
I bought a set of spindles, and have a set of 5 lug rotors I bought from NAPA. I removed the outer wheel bearing races, and checked the numbers on them. I then called master power brakes, and asked the to do the same thing, and found it was as easy as swapping the rotors. thought this picture would show 6 lugs, but it does not.

Re: 6 lug front disks
dznucks... I would definitely recommend ECE's 6-lug kit for your project. They offer some of the best products and customer service I've seen. You might be able to contact Stan/Mark at ECE to help you determine another make/model for the 6-lug rotor.

Re: 6 lug front disks
Like i mentioned i already have the ECE 5 Lug disc kit installed on my truck. I am wanting to swap back to 6 lugs and all i need are the discs. I have numerous ECE products on my vehicle and they do have great quality, but they also mark up their prices pretty good too.
i am not looking to spend $89 per disc if i can go to napa and get the same thing for $50. |

Re: 6 lug front disks
Misread on my part.... but I did mention to contact Stan/Mark to see if they might be able to provide you with an alternative to the 6 lug disc they offer.

Re: 6 lug front disks
When I looked for my 6 luggers, I did not try what I did thru my local sources. I think you are going to a specialty house to get them. I think I paid about 90 per rotor and got them from MASTER POWER BRAKES. You might give BRAKE TECH SOLUTIONS a call, and ask for Pat. he is very helpful.

Re: 6 lug front disks
Was a six lug disk not an option on our trucks? or is it the drop spindle that they wont fit on?

Re: 6 lug front disks
disc brakes came on 71 and up I think. That would make it 5 lug only?

Re: 6 lug front disks
I talked to a guy at ECE he told me they never made a 6 lug rotor for these trucks and there isnt a off the shelf rotor you can use.
He also told me that the 6 lug rotors they sell are just stock 5 lug rotors that were drilled for 6 lug instead of 5. He said there is some difference in machining to the backside in order to drill them for 6 lug. You can use the rotor they carry on any stock spindle or drop spindle that works with stock disk brake parts.. Last edited by Bazooka; 07-09-2009 at 09:43 AM. |
