I want to find a water tight box that will fit over a 4-3/4” long x 3-5/8” wide x 2-2/4” Tall converter I want to protect. This would be placed in my engine bay by the driver side firewall fender area to give you an idea of the amount of exposer it will have to the elements. It is actually a speedometer converter to run my mechanical speedo off of my newer style trany. I will post a picture of the unit I want to protect ( not rated for weather exposure).

Something like this. Or mounted on the flat part of the fender by the washer fluid bottle.

You can go to a electrical store. Go pick up a Nema 3R or Nema 4R box. They are rated for outdoor use. Just an option.

Go to ebay & type in "project box." There's usually "lotsa" there.

Or go to Radio Shack.

why not ount it under the dash? inside, out of the weather

Not that I have an exact model for you but your best bet would be looking at a marine shop. They have all type of waterproof things. West Marine would be a good one to check with. They are online.

For the cable x to work the best as possible they say it is best to have as straight an angle from the converter to the back of the speedo as possible. When I talked to the folks at Abbott(dealer of the Cable x) about my concerns with performance they said on our trucks it may be best to mount under hood to eliminate as much bend in the cable as possible but in this location it would have to be sealed off from water. They suggested siliconing the holes into the housing at the calibration knobs. I thought a water proof box would be a better Idea.

And some complain of hearing the noise of the motor in the unit when located in the cab. This location solves both problems

If I can find something like this in the right size I think I will be in business. Drill two holes, one small hole for the wires to come out through and one for the speedo cable. Then seal the holes up with silicone or special fittings that have the rubber boot for a more professional look.
