6 lug disks?

I read on here in a post about a guy using 68 3/4 lower control arms with like 95 spindles and 6 lug rotors. Anyone else done this? has anyone that has done this driven the truck? I am thinking about changing the 68 8 lug GMC over to a coil spung rear 1/2 ton. I have a 95 light duty 3/4 ton out in the rest of my junk, so I have the rotors spindles tie rods[inner and outer] calipers and the other odds and ends. Thanks for your help. Jim

Re: 6 lug disks?

That helps a bunch. That how I understood it to go. Whrn I changed my 70 over to disks I used a 72 for every thing, mainlt because I didn't have any 3/4 ton lower control arms. Now I am working on this 68 GMC 2500 and think it will ride better if I change it to half ton with the coil sprung rear. That will leave me with the 3/4 lca's to start this. Thanks, Jim

Re: 6 lug disks?

I have done this swap . I used 68 3/4 ton lower arms . 90 light duty spindles and 6 lug 1.25" rotors ( or the thicker ones ) and a 88-95 1/2 ton upper ball joint . Takes a certain outer tie rod and a certain inner tie rod to make it work . This info is in the FAQ section somewhere .

Mine aligned good and drove good . If you do this swap you can go 5 lug later just buy changing the rotor .

Re: 6 lug disks?

Thank guys.I think I will change from 8 lug 3/4 ton leaf spring rear to 1/2 ton coil spring rear and do the 6 lug disks in front. By that I mean that I have complete rolling 70 lwb frame from when I changed my 70 to swb with 5lug suspension. I am caught up in the shop right now ,so it seems to be the perfect time to do this change. I am also using the bed off my 70 on the 68 it has a good metal floor. Jim
