What I did today...

Well I took off work to run around a get some junk I'd wanted off the local Craig's list. A set of 15" 8 lug wagon wheels. The offset isn't the same. Two are 2" and 2 are 4". Not what I would choose, but they were local and cheap! The rims had some pretty bad shape Super Swamper TSL 39.5/12/15's on them. One of them has a bunch of tread left, but one side of the lugs are cut up. Will make a great spare for someone. I planned on keeping the rims and reselling the tires. I also picked up a couple of air tools. The ones I had were cheapo C & H ones so I wanted something that worked a bit better. A Mac 1/2" impact and a Snap-on 3/8" air wrench. Well used, but they work good. Fair price I think too...

So I've been having overheat problems since I fixed a coolant leak a few weeks back. It was in the mid nineties here then and it was running hot so I changed the thermo and the sending unit and flushed and filled. I got a horrible air lock and things just didn't go right so I took out the thermo to get going again. So I'm running around town picking up the junk I bought and the truck is running too hot. Decide to take the night off work and get it fixed for good.

End of the boring normal stuff...

Pull up to the garage and swap out a new thermo. Read on here about drilling a small hole in the thermo to prevent air locks. Thanks! Still running hot, but better. Got to use the new to me Snap-on air ratchet. Well, I didn't get to try out the impact. So I'm thinking maybe I should try and put the 39's on the back just to see what they look like and check out how the impact works. I had some 36" humvee tires on there so they weren't that much bigger, but I was kinda diggin how they stuck out so far.

Soooo,,,

I end up with this;

The back fit pretty good, but the front not so good. It was a hot day so to help stay cool I was enjoying a cold refreshment or two or three or ... Like I said it was hot and I was trying to stay cool! Not sure how that damned sawzall got next to the truck in the pic above. But, after a bit I ended up with this;

Got both sides done, err well cut I guess would be a better way to put it. Almost completely lost the light so I loaded the pup in the back and took a real short trip down the road. The sounds coming from the tires and body weren't pretty. In the morning I'll have to get that blasted sawzall out again or switch back to the smaller ones. Need to get a better disc on the grinder for the calipers too. Not sure which way I'll go. Probably depends on how hot it gets!!!

I'll take some better pics when the sun comes back up, but here are some comparison ones just cause I know you guys luv you some pictures!

Bad pic, but this is right after I got it with brand new 33" tires. The white GMC was my work truck until an old man pulled out and messed up the front a little for me.

This is what it looked like the start of business yesterday.

Not yesterday, but puppy in the back for a test ride.

More to come...
