is 72 the last year for this frame style

my question is if a 73 frame or a 78 frame is the same as the 68-72 frame or did the frame change after 1972.

i thought so i put a add up here locally for a 68-72 frame and every day i have someone call me and tell me they have one for a 73-88 body stlye so i was just wondering if a 73 was different i thought it was. thanks

The wheelbase is longer.Other than the obvious body style,Blazers are the same with the same capabilities.Of course,the 69-72s are my favorite.

Are you familiar with the`73s and 5 or so years after?Same stuff in those.Did you know a 12-bolt is a Corporate rear?The NP203 was the full-time case and even when that came out it was an option.the 10-bolt front ends didn`t come along until 79-80.I like Danas better,too,but the Corporate 10-bolt is just as capable.

My information shows that the np203 was standard starting in 1973 and the 10 bolt front was standard in 77. They got rid of the 12 bolt around 80-81. All of my second gens have been of the half top variety anyways(yuk). I've never had anything but problems with the 203 transfer case either. In my experience The rear output bearing just doesn't get enough oil when you convert them to part time operation. Though it probably doesn't help that all of mine were beat to hell and back. but you are right the ten bolt is just as capable. the only real difference being 28 vs 30 spline axle shafts. I did not know the 12 bolt was corporate....but I'm no expert. sorry I didn't mean to sounds so biases against the later models.

I`m all about 1st generation Blazers and those year K-series in general.But,I bought a`90 blazer new and it was the best thing going considering that time.That had the NP241.And,it was a 4spd with manual hubs...not the norm.But,it did all I asked it to and I sold it at 193,000 miles with no major work ever needed.I agree the full-time system sucked.Never even considered having one.I still don`t understand why they are the choice for a dual-case set-up.I scrapped any I ever ended up with.I didn`t realize full-time was standard starting in`73.I know more about the 3/4t & 1t trucks in those years.The`91 is the only Blazer I had that wasn`t 1st gen.
