Wide Whitewalls?
Where is the best, er, I mean cheapest place to find the wide whitealls for my stepside? I really would love to find some redlines, but everyone wants 230.00 a piece, Which is a bit spendy for a 300.00 truck

WWW are spendy. Cheapest is to get some Whitewall tire paint off of Fleabay.

You can get narrow whitewalls in 235/75 at normal prices.That`s what these trucks ran and that`s from the same time as redlines were used.

When I had my 48 Dodge Sedan, I got a set of used Cooper Cobra's for 200 bucks from the local tire shop, and a 36 grit flap wheel for an angle grinder, and with a light touch made these...
They looked descent and certainly the price was right!!! |

I had a set of Goodyear Double Eagle style on my first car, a '54 Ford 2-dr. As long as you don't curb them, they will look good....and, old school.

Just out of curiosity I searched porta walls and this site came up with good info on the history of white wall add ons and how they work with todays radials. They are available in a variety of sizes.
http://portawalls.com/ At $46 a set for the 15 x 1 3/4" it might be worth trying out for those who would like them. From Lucas tires.

Yeah some do but from what I was just reading there are specific directions for applying them and if not followed they might tend to flop around and come apart. There are others besides Lucas tires selling them. I don't know but if I was wanting to try the ww look I believe I'd try these before dishing out the high $ for real ww or by grinding my own tires down.
