5.3 67 chevy engine swap
Anyone ever done a 02 5.3 chevy engine/trans swap. Its competely hookedup except for the engine wiring harness.
I plan on using the orginal type 67 chassie/body harness. But I need 5.3 engine/trans. harness ideas. I know summit sell a intake/carb setup for that engine, but thinking the fuel injection would be better. I have seen 5.3 harnesses at the local salvage yard, but gee ! I can't need all that. Any ideas ? Thanks ! |

Re: 5.3 67 chevy engine swap
Just curious if you've done it and how long did it take you? Thanks.

Re: 5.3 67 chevy engine swap
I havent got my motor put together yet. So technically i havent tested my harness but it took about a full day. I did my homework ahead of time, so i had my parts on hand and had my list of wires i needed removed. But overall i would say a day to do it, that includes alot of breaks for cricks in my neck and brain overloads lol

Re: 5.3 67 chevy engine swap
I wired up a 96 S10 Blazer with a 2005 5.3. Kept the drive by wire for CC. Everything works using the 2005 underhood fuse box. You could go smaller fuse box, but I had so used it. I used AlldataDIY.com for wiring schematics and pinouts. My first attempt at something this major, but was worth it to learn what everything was in the system. Now just have to learn how to use my HP tuners. Good luck. Jim. Not to hard, just go slow and mark what all the wires and connectors are before opening up the snakes nest.

I also used alldatadiy, it helps if you dont know what a certain pin is for or what it does

Re: 5.3 67 chevy engine swap
Classic Trucks magazine did an article about the LS-series engine installed into a '72. Check August and September issues. Yeah, the September issue is out. It has a red/black Cameo on the front and says, "Start Your Engines" beneath the CT logo.

Re: 5.3 67 chevy engine swap
agree, it can be done with some reading. if you got the fuse block it is even simpler. We have done a few jeeps and my 6.0 swap should be going mid August.
