Reproduction 67-72 Shortbed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I remember finding somebody in Iowa I believe that was reproducing complete 67-72 shortbeds with steel floors. Minus the tailgate of course but I cannot find anything on it now. Does anybody know where I can find information on these beds. I thought they only came with steel floors. Thanks in advance.

Any of the Board vendors can hook you up. It's probaly best to try as local as you can to save on shipping though.

I think Wes, www.classicheartbeat.com and a board supporter shows all of the pieces in his catalog.
Those things look a bit spendy until you start figuring current shop rates to fix an old bed back to show standards. a week and a half of local quality body shop rates around here would just about eat the cost of the new bed up repairing an old one. Looks like I'll be doing my own work on the 71 if I want to get it up to being paintable.

It was a craigslist ad either for Art's Classic Truck Parts or Warren County Customs, can't remember which. Both are just south of the Des Moines metro area.

I talked to a guy with a bare bed that he had just picked up from the body shop. It was immaculate and he started with no rust. $2800 later the bed was as good as new. Which is what I think you would about spend on a repop. But for the person who does not like non OEM stuff, thats your only choice. Oh, and that was just body work and getting all the dents out, no paint

There was a craigslist ad from Warren County Customs, and they also are selling these boxes on ebay for $1950 buy it now price. Has anyone out there bought one of these reproduction beds? I am considering getting one and would like to know how good the quality is.

Thank you mr48chev. Yes the beds are very nice. I have one here that I built now waiting for the costomer to come and buy it.. Anyway I did take some pictures of it so that you can see what they look like. I even bolted an original tailgate on it so you can see how it would fit. Sorry it is a bit dusty, it's been in the shop for a while now...

Yes they can be doon with a wood floor, the bedfront would have to be ordered for a wood floor bed, then the wood floor cross sills, and bed wood kit. $2369.70 in parts, but if purchased as a kit $2250.00 plus shipping. As a wood floor, you could add about another $120.00.
