Drop Springs

Hello all been gone for a while, new job and all consuming a lot of time. Anyway good to get back on here.

So my truck was lowered when I bought it. At first glance, I thought it was done right since they replace with short shocks and such. After closer inspection and having all the wheels off when I did the new ones I realized that the previous owner just heated the springs. Should have known from the awful bouncy ride.

It is roughly a 2/4 drop, but heated. Would like to lower a little more. What is the max drop spring I can use in the front? I know the best thing is to use a 2" spring with drop spindles, but at the time I don't have the cash to do all that conversion from 6 to 5 lug and then new wheels.

I was thinking a 3/5 drop or 4/6 drop. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If I had the money I would just bag the darn thing.

Re: Drop Springs

I would install 3 inch drop springs in only the front and leave the back as is.

Re: Drop Springs

To me, nothing beats a 4/6 or 4.5/6 static drop, however that would require drop spindles. You wouldn't have to change over to 5 lug just for the drop, but you would have to change to a disc brake upgrade upfront.

As far as lowering your truck with springs only, you pretty well can't go much lower than a 3" spring up front, and you could go with a 5" in the rear for the level look; maybe even the 6". Most that run a 6" spring in the rear will go with a 3.5" or lower up front (there again, requiring drop spindles).
