some of the opt on my 66

This 66 has been in the family for years. I'll be 44 next month. My dad bought it used in excellent condition with super low miles from a friend of his, right after our 1968 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi was totaled out. I sooo wanted him to get another hot rod after that, But I guess that was the end of hot rods for my father(He used to drag race mopars) So I grew up around fast cars, and was kinda bummed. Anyway when I was 16 my father passed and i got the truck. I drove it for a few years, parked it and moved to Arizona. I pretty much gave it back to my mom and she still has it today, and its primary use are dump runs. I just wanted to know if any of the options are rare?? It has a 283, 3 on the tree with overdrive. It has power steering, A in dash tach, and a bullet shape clock that mounts on the dash. I haven't seen many of these trucks with these options, Never seen this clock on any other vehicle ever.

Re: some of the opt on my 66

I need to get this thing washed. It was repainted about 10 years ago, and it wasn't the best paint job. It looked good but didn't take long to fade, and whoever painted the cab just painted over the old paint didn't primer it or anything, and its peeling big time

Re: some of the opt on my 66

Judgemint,Welcome to the group. And I like your truck.
Your clock, overdrive, and tach are all great factory options. The cab clearnance lights might be also, do you know? I'd think the clock was the rarest. Only seen one truck with it installed (a '60 with it strapped to the column)and 6 or so pics on this site and ebay over the yrs. Although not common,I personally have owned two trucks with the overdrive and have seen many. Very cool and useful option I think. You also have the '66 only horn ring and 4 way flashers.
Again welcome to the site,Jack

Cool truck, judgemint. Very rare options... The tach is pretty rare in a half ton truck.

What are your plans for the truck?

Re: some of the opt on my 66

To me the cab clearance lights are not original GM. They were the same from 1963 on up. There's a casting # on the lights SAE63 or different #s as the years went on. You can still get the original style aftermarket. Once you see the originals you'll see them everywhere. Look in the Historical/ This I Know Thread for pictures. There were versions on the installation of the clearance lights. Two at the outsides or 5 lights 2 to the out side 3 in the middle. This combination indicates width of the vehicule. If you find another cab run your hand up the drivers side you'll find the wire pre installed even though theres no lights.

Re: some of the opt on my 66

The same clocks came in Corvairs though they had a different mounting bracket. In the Clock Kit you got both mounting brackets, you would simply install the bracket for the model. Ford had the identical clock with different mounting bracket.

Anti Glare Mirror ( Day/Night). Passenger Side Sun Visor. Chrome Package. Bright Package. Deluxe Heater. Sliding rear window is aftermarket. What happened to the original seat? Never seen them but there was a shoulder belt option in 66. Pic's of under the hood?

Re: some of the opt on my 66

Thanx Aero. I had no clue that kind of heater was an option? What do you mean by bright package? I don't know if that's the original seat recovered, or if it's a different one all together, I was living in Arizona when that was done. To be honest I don't remember what it looked like. I'll get some under hood pics, Nothing exciting under there that I know about

Re: some of the opt on my 66

Bright package is the moldings down both sides of the truck and around the windshield. I think someone swapped the seat out altogether. Hilander451 has great pics on his website. The cab section shows a deluxe seat that this truck might of had,

The underhood lamp, one screw or two? You have the correct powerbrake unit. Windshield washer with 2 speed? Power Assist steering. Deluxe heater. Reverse Lights?
