suicide doors without shaved handles?

so i want to put suicide doors on my 68 but i dont want to shave the doors, instead i want to use the stock passenger handle on the drivers door but the handles will be on the front of the door instead of the back. and use the drivers handle on the passengers side,
my reason for swaping the hanldes side to side is beacuse they need to turn around and be right side up.

has any one done suicide doors using the stock latches but in the fron door jam?

Re: suicide doors without shaved handles?

Always thought it would be cool to do suicides with the handles in the original location. Use the pushbutton as an electronic release, etc. Just to throw em off a little.

they would not be in the original location the passenger handle would be turned around and on the front of the drivers door under the wing window but still at the same level on the dore and vice versa on the passenger door im just not shure how it will work with my 1 peice windows unless i converted them to power?

Re: suicide doors without shaved handles?

I figure you'd need to relocate the indention in the door as well (where your hand fits).
Still, it'd look pretty cool.

Yeah I got what you were talking about I just think it would be cool to leave them in the stock location so when someone went to grab the handle they would think the door was going to open like a "normal" door but it would open in the front.
Not sure that I understand why the worry with the window though. I would think the handle would be out of the way of that anywhere on the outer door skin and you're going to have to mod the linkage (if you use linkage)regardless so I would think you could mod it to work around the glass. If not use an electronic latch (something like what's used for doors with shaved handles and a push button to open). Don't know though since I've never tried it.
