What do I have to do to achieve this? Looks like a bunch of spot weld to grind off, but is that it?

Yup, many many spot welds to cut. Have fun!!!

I have not done this, my friend keeps talking me out of doing this, and to just use bondo.....

dubie, if you decide to do this, Eastwood Co. has a set of spot weldcutters. They look like miniature hole saws, and cut out the spotweld only. The panels can then be mig/tig welded together in the same spot for reassembly. There's a link to Eastwood on the home resource page of this board. You probably knew that!!!

are you talking about a fleet side, if so its easy, the back stake hole, at the bottom of it, inside the box,where the tailgate closes up to, theres two small weld on each stake hole base,( just the back two stake shafts) cut those welds, and the rest all bolts off, the inner fenders bolt off the sides bolt off, and the front peice too,they all bolt off the deck, it seems like a lot of work, but well worth it, if you want to clean up any rust in between the panels,
