years ago i had a set with a broken handle and used a rod from an old grocery cart, welded on a ball from an old bearing, flattened the end and bolted it on. it wasn't an exact match but when i sold them, the buyer didn't complain.

Thanks, was headed to the shop now to dig through the "I could use this some day" box and the "to good to throw away"
