rough day!!!

We had some bad storms here Sat. knocked the power out for about 18hrs, so I cleaned up a the branches, polished on my truck, and had few beers. My son borrowed my wife car to take a 300 mile round trip to his girlfriends sisters house, the tread came off tire almost like a recap and did this. Good news is nobody got hurt and my truck looks good and the powers back on.

Re: rough day!!!

Yikes! Luckily it's only a F*rd....

j/k, glad it didn't cause a wreck, hopefully insurance will take care of it.

Gotta ask, what kind of tire?

Re: rough day!!!

If memory serves me, there was a lawsuit a couple years ago about tires delaminating & blowing out on Furd Explorers. Caused some rollovers, if in the front. Not sure if it was the tires or the vehicles at fault.

Re: rough day!!!

It was T/A radial I've never seen one throw the tread like that, I'm glad the wife wasn't driving it, she probably would have wreck it.

Firestones, and caused wrecks front or rear. Actually, you're better off with a blowout in front b/c you still have some semblance of steering control -- if a rear blows, hang on for dear life.

IIRC, there was a great debate as to fault, but it was largely determined to be Ford's fault for recommending tire pressures below normal... for ride comfort.
