Going to convert my LWB to SWB, have a question

I have a LWB that I'm going to cut down to a short bed.I know to make it the correct size the rear part of the bed has to be cut as well as the front.

My question is has anyone left the rear part of the bed alone and just cut the front part of the bed? I'm trying to figure out if it would look cool or goofy. I think it might be cool to have a unique bed size but thought I'd get some opinions.

Re: Going to convert my LWB to SWB, have a question

If you don't know already you need to cut 12" in front and 8" in back. I think that if you are gonna do something that isn't stock you should still keep the same ratio of the front cut to rear cut like 15" in front and 10" in rear for shorter than swb or 9" in front and 6" in rear for inbetween swb and lwb. I think this would keep it balenced. Hope this makes sense to you

I think it may have been linked frrom E-bay. It may have been back in 04 for all i know.

If you chopped one on a program, then post up a pic for all the guys with no imagination. Like I said, I personally didn't care for it, but that's my personal opinion. If you like it, then screw what I think, or anyone else thinks. Build it to what your vision is... your dream...

This truck was in the odd or unusual thread. It's kind of the opposite of what you're talking about. The back end of the box has been cut down only. Looks odd.Name: 0A_1.jpg

Re: Going to convert my LWB to SWB, have a question

i remember that one, some one asked why it was cut down, and the lady got all upset and offended. I can't remember if it was through a death or a divorce that she got it, but she was convinced it was stock.

Re: Going to convert my LWB to SWB, have a question

Looks like one of those bob tail tow rigs that some of the guys used to make out of 3/4 ton trucks. Their explanation was that it got the load of the trailer tongue closer to the axle center line.
