Radiator Assistance

Working on a 67 c10, had a 283 replaced with 350 out of a 1968. Went to use the 68 fan shroud and it wont fit?? 67 never had one. The 68 is stock as far as i can tell. So i grabed the 68 rad, and it is to long for the bottom rad support? Is there a differance in the 68 and 67 radiator support??

Re: Radiator Assistance

Ok checking it further, there seems to be two sets of holes for the radiator on the passenger side. What is the differance? 67 is a 1/2 ton 68 is a 3/4 ton?

Re: Radiator Assistance

The size of the raditor differs with the engine & options. I know my standard 2 core shroud does not fit my 4 core replacement radiator. I had to find a shoud from a HD or 3/4 core radiator. That may be the difference you are seeing. I am not sure or aware of a difference between years.

Re: Radiator Assistance

I6 (narrow) vs V8 (Wider). That is why 2 set of mount holes on one side of core support

Re: Radiator Assistance

ok that makes sence since the 67 had a v-6 originally. So with a 350 should you use the bigger rad? And can you get the bottom rad supports, and just change it over the next holes?

Thanks for the input

Re: Radiator Assistance

Drill out the rivet and move it over and bolt back in. I just did this on a 67 rad support that was originally and I6 and is now cooling a big block 402 with a 4 core radiator. Note, I had to "modify" (read hack )the lower supports for the 4 core and locate some 4 core upper hold downs since the originals were designed for the narrower 2 core
