6 Volt Starter Help
Can one of you guy's direct me to thread about how to check a 6 volt starter
for problems ? It worked fine when the 50 GMC was parked about 10 years ago, but now it will do nothing. I pulled it out this morning, power washed all the gunk off of it and would like to start looking a little further at it this afternoon after I watch all the races on TV today ! Nascar @ Indy, F1 from Hungary & Indy cars from Canada.......Thanks ![]() |

Re: 6 Volt Starter Help
It doesn't take a lot of effort to take the starter apart and check it out. Brushes are only a few bucks and the end bushings aren't expensive at all.
You should be able to pick up the parts at the local NAPA http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...=11&SubCatId=4 That list is for a 53 but You can plug in the year you have and make sure of the numbers. Last edited by mr48chev; 07-26-2009 at 06:55 PM. |
