i don't know how rare it is but in all of my serarchs i have only seen one rear axle like the one in my 68 gmc. it had a 10 bolt cover 6 lug wheels which is not that rare but mine had studs that came from the outside of the axle towards the pumpkin. every one i have ever seen has carriage style bolts that have the studs going out towards the wheels. if you ever had a wheel bearing go out in one of these like i did you will know it because your whole axle, wheel, and brake drum leave the truck. mine went into the woods in the middle of the night.

67 k-20 w/327 and a 3speed and 4.57 rear with 17 inch split rims and 9 inch wide rubber(is my current project) 73 blazer 6 inch all spring lift 350/350 with crappy 3.08 gears and 35 inch bfg tires. just put out 135 hp to the wheels on the dyno. 54 chevy delray .060 over 250 i-6 which was taken from my first truck(68 gmc). it is next in line for a rebuild |

I'm not sure how rare this is, I was talking to a guy with a swb step side, he said the clove box build sheet said his truck was a 6cylinder with a 400 turbo alittle over kill on the tranny don't you think, it also had heavy duty coils added from the factory, he said it might of been some type of delivery truck

Hey guys, I'm a new member although I've been hanging with you for a few months. I've been dubbing around with old trucks for a long time....wish I had a few of them back...hind-sight and all that stuff.
Anyhow, I just brought home a '68 C20 SWB factory 3/4 ton rack body dually. 292 six, w/4spd, radio delete, speedo and fuel gauge. The rest are "idiot" lights. The truck has 26K original miles and no rust. It has what appears to be Chevy clearance lights (based on the photo's in an earlier post) although the glove box door sticker doesn't mention them. I don't want to do any cutting on this truck, but I'd like a better array of gauges. Would it be sacrilege to modify a glove box door ( cut a clearance for the steering column, punch holes for the gauges and put in a set of after-market gauges?)That way, if I wanted to go back to bone stock I wouldn't have hurt anything

Slomotion, welcome from NH.
Pretty much the opinions here are "do what you want, it's your truck". If it were me I'd find a used full guage cluster and substitute in the aftermarket gauges you want to use rather than to do the glove box thing. Try posting your question on a new post you create (New Thread" button), you'll get a lot more response. BTW, factory clearance lights did not appear until 69 and that style is easilly identifiable by the raised "hockey puck" mounting areas in the cab roof. What you have is dealer installed and would not be on the glove box build sheet.

I wouldnt do cutting on that, but its your truck
You can get a factory style guage package with Speedo, fuel, oil pressure, battery and temp gauges or Speedo, fuel, oil pressure, battery, tach and temp gauges or Speedo, fuel, oil pressure, battery, tach, vacuum and temp gauges or Speedo, fuel, oil pressure, battery, tach, air pressure(wouldnt be much use to you though) and temp gauges Do you have any pictures of this truck, I would love to see it. Gee emm, thanks for the in-put. I agree, keeping the dash looking stock is a better way to go.

IMO, i would say the rarest option would be the 50th anniversary package, it only came one out of the running 6 years total. and what was the production number for all of these around? i must admit, i am impressed with all of these cool finds as far as the options go

How about right hand drive trucks for European markets? Rare enough Id say... I've never seen one.
