Re: Bringing Home the Six Fo!

Man, the longbed fans are out in full force! Steel wheels and caps are definitely an option I'm considering. The sails are originals bought from the parts board here. It was a fun trip and I hope to do it again at some point. I'm sure I'll find something on eBay or CL 1/2 way across the country that I cannot live without

Re: Bringing Home the Six Fo!

Guys, I have no feelings of inadequacy that I need to make up for, so I'm good

No, I dig the longbeds ...just like the shorty's more. Especially with subtle non-factory details like a long wheelwell on a shortbed.

Re: Bringing Home the Six Fo!

Mike,
Personally I think lowered trucks look better as a short bed and lifted trucks as long beds. To me the porportions seem better.

If you would like help with the big window conversion or shortening the bed, I would be happy to help. I just shortened my frame and now I am finishing up the bed. I work not to far from you.

Nice photos of the trip. And the little guy in the back!

Great looking truck.

I agree with that long/short lifted/lowered sentiment. I have a little shortening experience myself but an extra pair of hands never hurts. Thanks for the offer. It'll be a while before I get to this one though.

Ya, that's true! This truck has had 40,000 miles put on it since the mid seventies.

I'm with Joe321 on this one..........CHOP THAT BIOTCH.............!!!!!! I'm shortening mine too, but I found an original bed and an original frame..so I dont have to do any cutting........Everything I own will be a shortbed......I dont need no longbed.....I got a car trailer for that long stuff..........!!!!!!!!!!!

Sweet road trip.

I did not see the trip part of the thread last year.

Looks like your son does good work, putting the cab flags on there.

Thanks for sharing, cool truck.

Long beds rule, you can haul more and lay down in 'em too(but, I'm a big feller)!

Re: Bringing Home the Six Fo!

I think you should just leave this one stock. You have to have something differnt in your collection.

Re: Bringing Home the Six Fo!

If you've seen his other projects then you know he's not leaving it stock. Don't let the long bed guys get you down Frizzle. I've offered a few of them the 20" I cut out of mine but haven't had anyone take me up on it yet.

Re: Bringing Home the Six Fo!

Ya, no worries. I will be shortening it. On a side note; Jason65's truck is almost enough to make me want to keep it a long bed:
