67 Speedometer and T5 Trans?
I have a T5 trans in my truck I just picked up, and the speedometer isn't hooked up. I was just curious if the previous owner didn't hook it up because it wouldn't work or just didn't do it. Anyone done this before?
I can get a cable to hook up the T5 to a 75 or newer speedo...might have to retro fit something I am thinking...just hate to start ordering stuff before I hav some more info. Thanks! |

I've got a t5 sitting in my garage, and my cab off my frame...
I'll check tonight if the stock cable on my 72 will work. EDIT---> on second thought, i don't know why it wouldn't work, speedo cable connected fine to a 700r4 that came out of an 88 camaro, and they were interchangable with the T5, so reasoning states stock speedo cable should work... I'll still check anyway

The 92 V8 Camaro T-5 that I'm going to put into my Nova this winter has a speedo torpeedo(?) from a turbo 350 in it. Originally it had a gear driven electronic speed sensor in it, I took it out and the 350's went right in And it turns with the out put shaft so I'm going to use it.

Look in the engine forums for my T-5 write up I did earlier this year.

If the T-5 has an electric sensor instead of gear drive outlet you will have to change the rear houseing to use a cable. There are some converters on the market but they are expensive.

Not aways. If the sensor is below the centerline of the output shaft you have one like mine, if is lined up with the centerline you will have to change the housing.
