I know what you mean......
I checked the price of the Aluminum cab surround pieces (right under your rear window) and found the corner pieces at $54 a piece plus I do not know what for the long straight piece between them. So much for getting rid of a small dent in one. |

Since those things are aluminum, I wonder what the chances are of taking it off and tapping the dent out ? I bought the back strip and right corner for 50 beans from a member. Trying to find a good used left side but no luck. some guy on ebay had all three pieces in mint cond. They went for 71 bucks. I bid but was out bidded. Sorry sob's
Might just have to buy corner new.

Guys with the aluminum strips..... you can pound out the dents very carefully. Eastwood company sells sandbags for this type of operation and if you have a body hammer ($28 at Eastwood)you can pound out the dents, I mean massage the dents out (lightly hit). If you have a piece of wood that would work also, but use lighter force you don't want to stretch the metal do not use an anvil unless you know what you are doing. Steel on aluminum on steel will definitely stretch the aluminum. As for the hammer the bigger the head the better but you need one that will fit the radius of the piece you are fixing unless it is flat, a body hammer has a round head and a square head, for flat you can use the square head but be careful not to dig in the sharp corners. The round end of the hammer will not fit the radius of our corner trim pieces so a piece of wood the correct radius on the inside and some gentle persuasion will most likely, if you did it right, take the dents out.
But be careful not to trash your trim..Good luck all Dave
